What is a “Blockchain”?

Technology that appears as a public, time irreversible, decentralized series of data teamed up in a chain of time sorted “blocks”. Historically the first application of the blockchain technology was the digital currency called “bitcoin”. This technology can also have applications in various fields of human acts, such as products-certification, preservation and securing cultural and not only heritage, transparency of public funds, ledgers and practices of public institutions, conductment of free elections, etc.
